Pet Travel
It is essential you speak to the surgery well in advance prior to travel.
If you are planning to take your dog, cat or ferret to Europe this year. Please ensure you have the current, correct documents approximately one month before you travel.
Pet passports issued in England, Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland are no longer valid. Although they are still legal in some European countries.
Your pet needs to be microchipped and have a valid Rabies vaccination. Rabies vaccinations must be carried out at least 3 weeks prior to your departure.
You will have to obtain a Health Certificate from your vet and all dogs must be treated for tapeworm if travelling to Finland, Ireland, Malta, Norway and Northern Ireland.
The Health Certificate must be issued no more than 5 DAYS prior to travel, which is then valid for 10 days.
Tapeworm treatment 1-5 days before travelling.
